Introducing Sienna to Colby

Colby didn't seem too interested in Sienna. After he sniffed her, he just went about his daily life in our home. He still isn't that interested in her. However, when she is crying, he gives me a look, like "can you please stop that??" (I don't know why this is underlined, it won't let me undo it!)

Here at the Gipson household, we've gotten used to family naps. We love them!

Sienna's first bath

Sienna lost her umbilical cord after about a week and a half. Now she gets real baths instead of sponge baths on the counter! Yay! Sienna seems to enjoy bath time so far. She likes sitting in the nice warm water. She doesn't like me rinsing her hair, however. She doesn't mind when we wash it, but boy does she get fired up when I rinse out the shampoo! The other day she had her first blow-out in the tub. I knew it would happen at some point, but it was on her 3rd bath! Thanks for that one little girl! Good times...

Sienna loves cuddling with us. She loves to sleep on our chests and we love it too! She is often found sleeping on daddy during football games.

I LOVE my Moby Wrap. This is the most comfortable baby carrier (I guess I haven't tried any other ones!). Sienna absolutely loves it and I can carry her around when I'm doing things in the house or when I'm going on any errands. It is perfect when we've had to go somewhere, that way no one touches her and she sleeps perfectly, all cuddled up. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has a little baby or is pregnant!

My grandparents were in town and my grandma really wanted a picture of the 4 generations. How neat to have this picture!

Ready for her first weekend walk

We went on a walk this weekend and it reminded me that fall is coming soon! It was a beautiful, sunny day, with a slight breeze that felt amazing. It made me so excited for more family walks in the future and for Fall that is sneaking up on us :).

Welcome Sienna Grace

It's been one week since Sienna has entered our lives and we are completely in love with her. We already can't imagine life without her. We stare at her constantly, we hug and kiss her non-stop, and we think every facial expression, every noise, and every unintended smile are just amazing!

Sienna was a timely girl, born on her due date-Sept. 2, 2010. The day before she was born (Wed., Sept.1st), we had a doctor appointment and since I was still at 4cm, 90 effaced, the doctor asked if we wanted to wait around for her to come on her own time or if we wanted to be induced. I was ready to be induced and to meet our little pink bundle! So she scheduled us to be induced on Thurs. morning at 6am. As we were leaving the doctor's office, Garth looked at me and said, "Now I bet you'll go into labor tonight, you just watch."

Low and behold, that night we were at my parents having dinner and I started having contractions. They weren't too bad, but some were pretty uncomfortable. They started to be more regular, but I could still talk through them and continue what I was doing, so I thought they were just false labor contractions. It felt more like cramps than anything else.

We went home around 9:30ish and by 11 I was having real contractions. Now I know what they feel like!! Wow did they hurt! I couldn't talk, couldn't walk, and they made me want to throw up at every contraction. We started timing them and at 12:30 we ended up going to the hospital where they admitted me. Garth was right!

After a few hours of experiencing contractions, I ended up getting an epidural, which was the best decision I made. My doctor broke my water the next morning around 7:30 and at 11:54 am, Sienna Grace Gipson entered the world. She was 7 lbs. 10 oz., 19 inches long.

She is the most beautiful baby girl and we feel so blessed that God brought her into our lives.

Yes, I'm still pregnant

I definitely thought I would have this baby girl by now! I seemed to be making so much progress. I am 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced!! Dr. thought I would have the baby last weekend, but did that happen? No :(

I am bummed and have (multiple) daily talks with our little one about all the people who are anxiously waiting to meet her, especially her mommy and daddy. I know people say the longer she's inside, the better...yeah, yeah, yeah. She's only 2 days away from her due date and she'll be just fine if she makes her appearance a little early!

We have a dr. appointment tomorrow and so we'll see what she says. Last week she told us that if our little bundle hadn't arrived by our next appointment, that we'll find a day to induce me. So we'll see what she says tomorrow. I'm hoping our pink bundle will arrive by this weekend!!

So here's to even more walking, swimming, going up and down the stairs over and over...anything to meet this little one! We're ready!

I love our baby bumper! I bought the fabric online and my best friend's mom made it for me! She is so talented. How cute are these little birds?? The swirls and flowers are an eggplant purple color, which matches the bedskirt!

Maternity Pictures

Our friends Jenny and Evan are not only amazing friends, but they are fantastic photographers. They have a photography business, Houndstooth and Caroline, and they did our maternity shots. This is me at almost 35 weeks. We had so much fun doing this shoot and can't wait to do more in the future with our little girl! We have so many pictures to choose from, but I thought I'd just put some of them up for you to see :)

An update...finally

It's about time for a new post...I've been a slacker lately!

quick update on our life...

Garth and I just celebrated 5 years of marriage on June 4th. It's hard to believe that we've been married that long already. It's been a wonderful adventure and I can't wait to see what awaits our future. We watched our wedding video (like we do every year on our anniversary-I highly recommend it, it's so much fun!) and then we talked about all the fun and exciting things that happened in the last 5 years of our lives. We've been busy people and have been very blessed in all that we've done. But we are most looking forward to our new blessing and addition-due in 3 months! Time has flown by these past 5 years and I can only imagine how quickly it goes by with a little one.

PREGNANCY:

I am now officially 28 weeks! I'm into my third trimester and I'm feeling great. It's been so nice not being sick and I just love my growing belly. It's amazing to feel our baby girl kicking me. It took awhile for me to really feel her. I was in my 23rd week, I believe. But now I feel her all the time and Garth can feel her every once in awhile. When she starts kicking, I'll tell him, and he puts hand on my belly...and then she stops.

It's amazing to watch when she's really going and I can see my stomach move around. We love talking to her and we are working on her nursery and I just love it! I still don't have any cravings, I haven't had any this whole time. I am able to eat chicken (most of the time) finally!

It's great to be off of work for the summer! I'll be teaching summer school the next two weeks and then I'm officially done and it'll be relaxing time!

It's a GIRL!!

This Saturday was so precious and special to Garth and I. We got to find out what we're having...a girl!! We wanted to make it special, so we came up with a fun idea. Our ultrasound was 2 days earlier, on Thursday, and so we had the technician put the sex in an envelope and we gave it to a friend of mine at work. My co-worker makes beautiful (and delicious) cakes, so I gave her the envelope. She was the only one that knew our little secret! She made an adorable cake that looked like a baby block and she was going to dye the inside blue if it was a boy or pink if it was a girl. Our families all came into town and some of our closest friends came to join in the fun. We are so blessed to have such love and support!

We were all so anxious to know what color was inside that cake! After yummy breakfast burritos and some hanging out, we all gathered together in the dining room. We put the cake on a pedestal and when everyone was looking, Garth cut the cake to reveal PINK! I was

completely shocked! I really thought it was a boy. If you look at our poll, I was the one and

only one to vote "boy." I wish I had seen a picture of my face when he cut it, because everyone said it was hilarious because I was so shocked. I didn't care what we had, but for some reason, I was pretty sure it would be blue...I was wrong! But we are so excited and we can't believe that

we are going to have a little girl. It was such a fun way to share that exciting moment. We were amongst our family and friends and we wouldn't have changed that for anything. It was a blast!

I realized later that I never gave my camera to anyone, so I don't have any pictures other than a couple from my sister-in-law (thank you Heather!). So once I get some more, I'll post them. I also have a video that I'll try to post once I get it.

The technician also gave us a picture to prove that it's a girl and we had that in a separate envelope. We opened that later and it's definitely a girl! So fun!!

Boy or Girl

Next Saturday we find out what we're having!!! We can't believe that in one week we will know if we will have a son or daughter at the end of the summer. Keep posted for the fun news :) Anyone have any guesses?? Who thinks it's going to be a girl? Who thinks it's going to be a boy?
